Health & Wellness: Health Insurance

The Golden Gate University School of Law does not require -- but strongly encourages -- students to have health insurance coverage throughout law school. Accidents and illnesses can happen, and having insurance can help you keep your focus on law school and avoid large medical bills.

WELLS FARGO BROKERED INSURANCE PLAN

Wells Fargo Insurance Services, the company that brokered GGU's 2013 - 2014 Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), has made a plan available to GGU School of Law students for the 2014 - 2015 school year. This plan, offered through Kaiser Permanente, is similar in benefits to the 2013 - 2014 SHIP, but higher in price. Although this plan is being offered to GGU Law Students, Golden Gate University School of Law has no financial, administrative or other involvement in the plan. The standard financial aid budget does not include an automatic allowance to cover the cost of the premiums for this or any other health insurance plan. Students who don't already have coverage are encouraged to see if similar, but less expensive plans are available though Covered California or other sources before enrolling in the Wells Fargo plan. It is unlikely that this plan will be extended beyond the 2014 - 2015 school year.

For additional details including brochures, cost, benefits and the Summary of Benefits and Coverage document, visit the Wells Fargo Insurance Services Website and enter "Golden Gate University School of Law" under the "Search by School" heading. Brochures are also available in the Law Student Support office. Students who choose to participate in this plan enroll directly with Wells Fargo Insurance Services. All inquiries about the plan should be directed to Wells Fargo Insurance Services and/or Kaiser Permanente.
