We are thrilled to announce that Sam Ernst, currently a professor at Chapman University, will be joining the GGU School of Law faculty in Fall 2017. His scholarship and teaching focus on contracts, Intellectual Property, and patent law and practice.

Prior to joining Chapman's Fowler School of Law in 2013, Ernst was a partner at the international law firm of Covington & Burling in San Francisco, practicing intellectual property, commercial, and appellate litigation, while maintaining an active pro bono practice focusing on veterans disability recovery and homeless advocacy. In 2010, Professor Ernst was recognized by the Federal Circuit Bar Association for his work on behalf of veterans. "Professor Ernst adds a breadth of experience and expertise in patent law that strengthens our already strong program and curriculum in intellectual property," said Professor William Gallagher, Director of the IP Law program at GGU Law. "His background, deep roots in the local IP law community, and impressive scholarship will enhance both the Law School's reputation and also our IP law students' experiences and opportunities in this exciting and important area of law."

Professor Ernst earned his JD Magna Cum Laude from Georgetown University Law Center. He has a BA in Modern Literary Studies from UC Santa Cruz and an MA in Comparative Literature from UCLA.
