George J. Sakaldasis is the Assistant Director for Military Affairs in the National Security Office at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). In this role, Mr. Sakaldasis is tasked to assist Senior LLNL staff to develop, integrate, prioritize and focus the Laboratory's national security response to military requirements and to maintain effective interface with senior staff and leadership of the DoD nuclear and non-nuclear weapons, counter proliferation, intelligence, information operations, ballistic missile defense, and precision strike programs.

Mr. Sakaldasis was born April 22, 1944, in San Francisco, California. He graduated from San Francisco State College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration. He was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force in 1966 through ROTC. Mr. Sakaldasis earned a master's degree in Public Administration from Golden Gate University in 1975. He completed Squadron Officer School in residence as a distinguished graduate in 1972, Armed Forces Staff College as a distinguished graduate in 1979, and the Air War College as a Command-Sponsored Research Fellow to the Airpower Research Institute, Air University in 1986.

In August 1993, Mr. Sakaldasis was selected as the United States Strategic Command Liaison Officer to Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California and Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico. In this position, he represented and acted for the Commander-in-Chief, USSTRATCOM, to ensure that the Command's needs were met by the Department of Energy national weapons laboratories.

In July 1996, Mr. Sakaldasis retired from active military service and in September 1996 he assumed his present position.
